Rihanna subpoenaed to testify in Chris Brown case
By Ruth Doherty on Thursday 11 June 2009
Rihanna has been subpoenaed by LA prosecutors to appear in court to testify in the assault case against Chris Brown.
The Umbrella singer was served with the subpoena in person in LA on Tuesday for a 22 June hearing at the Superior Court, her lawyer confirmed.
Donald Etra said: ‘Rihanna was served at my office by LA DA investigators.
‘If the preliminary hearing indeed goes forward, she is now legally required to be there, she will be there, and will answer all questions truthfully.’
Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to two charges, one of assault and one of making criminal threats.
The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there's enough evidence to take Brown over to trial.
Rihanna will also be subject to cross-examination by Brown's attorney Mark Geragos.
But the case could end any time with a plea deal, which would make the hearing unnecessary.
Rihanna was left with shocking injuries after the former couple’s alleged altercation on the night of the Grammys.

He should have not done that. I saw this video with Keira Knightley. It is not a shame to suffer this. All women are supporting you.
