Judges to allow Madonna's Mercy adoption
By Ruth Doherty on Tuesday 9 June 2009
Madonna has reportedly been successful in her bid to adopt Mercy James from Malawi.
The singer has managed to persuade three judges to allow her to adopt the Malawian orphan in an appeal case, according to The Sun.
Two have already submitted reports recommending the adoption take place and the third is said to be 'in complete unison with them'.
Madonna has spent the last two years trying to adopt the three-year-old, and her bid was blocked by a court in March.
But her lawyer Alan Chinula is said to have delivered her the good news this week.
The ruling is set to be announced next Sunday at Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal.
A source told the publication: 'The paperwork is being typed up now.
'All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She's off to America.'
A friend of Madonna's described her as 'ecstatic', adding: 'She made a promise that she wouldn't give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she's this determined.'

Just shows what you can do if you have enough money, pay the right people and stamp your feet hard enough!! Us normal people wouldnt stand a chance of adopting a child from that country, its hard enough in the UK!!

Why anyone should want to deny this little girl a better life than the one she currently has stuck in an orphanage is beyond me. People who seem to resent Madonna getting what she wants seem to forget the child in all this. Madonna can give her undreamed of opportunities, so for the child's sake I hope the adoption goes through, as looks increasingly likely.
