Winona Ryder confirms Heathers sequel

Infamous 80s cult classic Heathers is getting a long-awaited sequel, the first film's leading lady, Winona Ryder, has confirmed.

And the really good news? Christian Slater's coming back, too!

According to Stateside sources, Winona says everything's being kept on the quiet because scriptwriter Dan Waters and director Michael Lehman 'don't want to talk about it'.

Winona's equally enigmatic about Slater's role in the forthcoming flick.

'Christian has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character,' she told Empire magazine.

But she admits: 'I've been wanting to do a sequel forever.'

Widely seen as the film which cemented her reputation as one of Hollywood's most beautiful actresses, Winona said she actually needed a drastic makeover to convince producers at the time she was pretty enough for the role.

'That was such as special movie for me, and still is. It was the first time I really went after a role,' she said recently. 'I'd really only done character roles up to that point, I'd never played a pretty girl. And they didn't want me because they didn't think I was pretty enough.

'So I went and had my hair and make-up done at some expensive salon because I was determined to show them. I told them in a meeting that they didn't even have to pay me!'

this is amazing news, totally unexpected. it does have a lot to live up to though, and bringing back Christian Slater will be interesting considering how the original ended. can't wait to see it tho
