Rihanna will take to the stand in the assault court case being brought against Chris Brown.

The singing star is among the witnesses whom prosecutors plan to call during a hearing in Brown’s case, an attorney has confirmed.

Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, told reporters Chris has been informed the singer will receive a subpoena to testify at a preliminary hearing on 22 June, which will focus on whether there is enough evidence to continue the case against Brown.

Etra also confirmed that Rihanna will comply with the order.

If she is called to testify, it would mark her first appearance in court since assault and criminal threat charges were filed against Brown in March.

It would also mean that the Barbados-born beauty would be subject to cross-examination by Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos.

Chris Brown was arrested in February on suspicion of hitting and choking Rihanna following a huge row just hours before the couple were scheduled to appear at the Grammys.

Rihanna’s lawyer would not comment on the status of the pair’s relationship now, but said that she had been following the case closely.
