Ashton Kutcher threatening to stop using Twitter
By Natalia Lubomirski on Thursday 28 May 2009
Some may breathe a sigh of relief but for the hundreds of thousands of online followers, the revelation that Ashton Kutcher could quit Twitter may come as a shock.
The news came after it was revealed the micro-blogging site has partnered with Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment to launch a new show.
The new reality series which reportedly centres on members of the public being put on the trail of celebrities has outraged Kutcher and other stars. 'I really don't like being sold out', Tweeted the actor.
Fearing the programme could encourage people to stalk celebrities, the 31-year-old continued to voice his concerns: 'I may have to take a Twitter hiatus. I don't want to be stalked.'
If Kutcher were to quit it would come as a huge blow for the social networking site. The Punk'd star has become their most high-profile and popular celebrity advocate.
The Iowa-born actor even appeared in the news last month after spectacularly beating CNN to become the first Twitterer to exceed one million followers.
However now with wife Demi Moore also threatening to take a Tweeting time-out it looks like the couple's Twitter reign could be at a close. '[It] may come to a quick and sad end', wrote Demi.
