Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she once had a lover who was hooked on drugs and alcohol.

The actress - who now leads a wholesome life with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – has told how the relationship made her struggle with her self-confidence.

She wrote: ‘When I was much younger I was involved with somebody where they weren’t married, but were into drugs and alcohol… I was obsessed with why this person wasn’t showing up.’

The 36-year-old mum-of-two added: ‘I was raised by people who made me feel really good about myself.

‘I still got caught up in this thing of, “What’s wrong with me? Why isn’t this turning out the way I want?”’

Gwyneth added that she was made to feel miserable by the addict, who, she said, she was addicted to herself.

But who could this mysterious wild child be?

Before she married pop-rocker Chris, Paltrow dated a string of high profile stars, including Luke Wilson, Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt.

But it wouldn’t be any of those Hollywood hotties… would it?
