Prince William admits: 'I am Banksy'

Prince William has proved the Royal Family does have a sense of humour by joking to an audience that he is in fact the anonymous graffiti artist, Banksy.

Counting as one of the better gags delivered by a member of the Royal Family in recent years, the Prince told an audience while opening a newly-expanded art centre: ‘Before I start, I would like to admit something, I am actually… Banksy,’ he said. ‘I thought that this would be a good forum to bring it out. Any autographs I will do later.’

Perhaps audience members were really hoping for an announcement that Prince William and his long-standing love Kate Middleton were going to get married (they were spotted last weekend looking picture perfect together), but the joke still tickled the crowd with one artist saying the royal was ‘very charming, very amusing’.

Meanwhile the Prince has been busying himself with various public engagements, including a surprise visit to 109-year-old Catherine Masters at her old people’s home in Oxfordshire.

The great-grandmother had written to the Queen complaining about the last five birthday cards she had received from Buckingham Palace, which feature Her Majesty wearing the same yellow dress in each photograph.

By way of apology, the Prince dropped by the nursing home – accompanied by a bevy of bodyguards – leaving Mrs Masters stunned.

‘You should have seen the smile on my face when the handsome young prince walked in,’ said Mrs Masters. ‘I told him I would like the Queen to have a new dress because the one she wears has been the same. I think either a blue or white one would be nice.’
