The man in the pictures that reportedly drove Peter Insania with jealousy, is actually her gay dressage friend.

Peter Andre was said to be furious about photos of Katie Price seemingly flirting with a man on a boozy night out.

The pics were described as the 'last straw' for Peter, who said he couldn't trust his wife when she was drunk, and promptly asked for a separation.

But dressage rider Spencer Wilton, 36, yesterday attempted to clear up the situation, saying: 'We were just out having a perfectly innocent, fun night out.

'It's all been blown up into something it isn't. I'm already in a happy relationship with a male partner.'

The horsey set enjoyed a few drinks at the Sycamore club in Bristol after the Badminton Horse Trials.

But it is unclear whether the revelation will change Peter's mind about the separation. The singer was seen leaving the couple's home with his brother at lunchtime yesterday, while Katie has left the country with their two children, Princess and Junior.

Reports have suggested that the marriage was further strained by Katie 'refusing' Peter sex for four months.

Less than two weeks ago the couple publicly supported each other through the London Marathon.

'Katie used training for the marathon as an excuse for refusing sex. She said she was constantly knackered and needed to conserve her energy,' a friend told The Sun this morning.

This combined with a broadcast last week of an ugly row between the pair on their programme Katie and Peter: Stateside, is thought to have contributed to the split.

In the row, Katie is seen calling Peter an 'old singer who no one knows about' while he responded by calling her an 'arrogant, miserable old cow'.

Peter criticised producers on Twitter for airing the row, saying they made up an hour later.

But a close friend said the row, in which Katie accused him of not earning any money, left him feeling 'humiliated'.

'This is the last thing Peter wanted.

‘In fact this is the last thing either of them wanted to happen. They mean a great deal to each other still.

'But he is a man who has pride and he felt humiliated by what she said. Everybody has their pride.

‘We are all keeping our fingers crossed that they will reconcile but for the time being the separation is very much real.

‘It is certainly not a publicity stunt. Peter is very, very upset about it.'

I think that maybe pete is just fed up with katie making him look silly infront of the public and acting really disrespectfully . I do see alot of myself in katie however thats no excuse, i believe that she is really insecure thats all but i really dont want them to spilt

I really felt sorry for Pete when she said she was the one making the money. I have been watching the show and have said for ages that she puts him down constantly, i would say he seems to love her loads and am sorry it has come to this, I also feel for the children as is great with them just hope they dont suffer bacause of the split, would be great if they can sort things out sorry Kate but if you do get back together please start treating as an equal, its nice to have money but happiness is better than money any day
