Maggie Gyllenhaal gets married!

Maggie Gyllenhaal has taken a leaf out of Salma Hayek's book – and married her longtime lover in Italy.

The actress and her fiancé Peter Sarsgaard tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Brindisa.

'We are happy to confirm that Maggie and Peter were married on Saturday, 2 May,' the actress's rep said in a statement to People.

The romantic nuptials took place in a small chapel in the picturesque town of Brindisa.

Celebrity guests included Maggie's brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, and his girlfriend, Reese Witherspoon.

Maggie – who made her name in the sexy indie movie Secretary and who also starred in The Dark Knight – co-starred with Peter in Steven Soderbergh's low-budget 2003 flick In God's Hands.

The couple have a two-year-old daughter Ramona, and announced their engagement in 2006, after more than four years together.
