Tyra Banks faces stalker in court

Supermodel-turned-TV host Tyra Banks has testified against her accused stalker in court, telling a judge, ‘I fear my safety.’

Defendant Brady Green, from Dublin, Georgia, faced trial yesterday on charges of stalking, harassment and criminal trespass.

Banks told how he repeatedly contacted her staff at The Tyra Banks Show and even entered the New York City building where the programme is filmed earlier this year.

Police said he travelled to the studio from Los Angeles on a bus, claiming, ‘we had a thing together’. Even more chillingly, Green sent Banks flowers with the note, ‘When I see you, I love you,’ and threatened to slit her assistant's throat.

Speaking at the New York State Supreme Court, Tyra, said: ‘I feel very vulnerable. I don’t know what could happen.’

The 35-year-old America's Next Top Model star also added that she feared the safety of her staff and has since hired security and bodyguards to accompany her on private trips to restaurants and the movies.

Pleading not guilty, Green testified that Banks’ shows on topics such as racism and homelessness had ‘moved’ him, and his attempts to get tickets for her show had been misunderstood.

Defence lawyer Sydney O’Hagen claimed the 38-year-old was just an over-zealous fan.

If convicted, Green will spend up to 90 days in jail. Both parties will give closing arguments in court today.
