Sarah-Jessica-Parker and Matthew Broderick-Celebrity News

Sarah Jessica Parker will soon be taking on a new double role – as mum to twin girls.

Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt should be shaking in their booties! The fashion icon Sex and the City star and her hubby Matthew Broderick have announced they are expecting twin daughters – with the help of a surrogate mother.

And with a stylista like SJP for a mum, they're bound to be the most fashion-forward tots in Tinseltown.

A representative for the couple confirmed that Parker, 44, and Broderick, 47,  'are happily anticipating the birth of their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a surrogate.

'The entire family is overjoyed.'

The twins will be siblings to the couple's son James Wilkie, 6.

The couple – who celebrate their 12-year anniversary next month - stepped out together on Monday night in New York at the premiere of his film Wonderful World, where the actor gushed about his wife, saying: 'Doesn't she look beautiful?'

The news may come as a surprise to some, as the couple were only recently dogged by rumours of infidelity on his side.

But SJP has dismissed them out of hand, insisting: 'We don't even bother to address them (the reports).'

We think congratulations are in order and, most importantly, we simply can't wait to see how she dresses them!

Why the need for a surrogate mother?
Comment by Brenda on April 29 15:21

Probably a saying they are using a surrogate is the best cover-up they could use instead of really saying he knocked up the chick he had an affair with last year. Timing from affair to delivery seems too close for comfort.

I think it's their private affair. Maybe they've had trouble conceiving and don't want to announce the details to the world. I don't care why! I think it's lovely news for them and hope they are all very happy.

Because one or both of them has fertility problems perhaps?
Comment by Karen on April 29 20:47

At 44 your chances of conceiving naturally are very low, I know this as I'm a midwif. Your eggs start to diminish quickly after 30, each year you have less and less. You are born with the amount of eggs you carry through life and then each period releases one. Most women have started to be pre menopausal by 44.

Sarah is 44. Its harder and harder to get pregnant over 40.
