Rihanna's dad blasts Brown not guilty plea

Rihanna's dad has blasted Chris Brown's decision to plead not guilty to allegedly assaulting his daughter, claiming the R&B star is 'in denial'.

Brown yesterday pleaded not guilty to assault and making criminal threats over an altercation with the star on the night of the Grammys.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Ronald Fenty said: 'So what happened? Somebody else did this to Rihanna, then?

'I just would like to see justice go in the right direction... If he’s not guilty, who did it? He should say 'guilty' and let the court be leaning into him and try himself to the mercy of the court, see if he gets a fine.'

He added: 'I don't want his career to be damaged - it’s damaged already. I think he’s a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay.

'When you do the crime, you do the time. I don't want to see him locked up for a long time - I just want him to acknowledge and get some help.'

Brown's preliminary hearing has been delayed from 15 April until 29 April, although Rihanna's lawyer has admitted that the singer would prefer to reach a court settlement rather than go to trial.
