Cheryl Cole voted Style Icon of the Decade

Many might have thought the accolade for Style Icon of the Decade would have gone to  Sarah Jessica Parker – but she was pipped at the post by our very own Cheryl Cole.

The Girl Aloud picked up the accolade after 3,000 females between the age of 20 and 60 deemed her their favourite fashionable star.

The Sex and the City girls were snapping at her (Louboutin-clad) heels in the second spot, while Sienna Miller pitched in at third place and Victoria Beckham snapped up fourth position.

The survey, carried out by The Style Network, also revealed some shocking style statistics, including 55% of 20-somethings spend over a quarter of their income on clothes and make-up.

And us Brits are the worst for impulse-buying – and never even wearing the item: 44% of us have 6 garments in our wardrobes that have never seen the light of day.

We're sure we've never done that before… OK, maybe once or twice!
