Jade funeral details revealed

By Lucy Hutchings  on Friday 3 April 2009

Marie Claire News: Jade Goody

Jade Goody will be laid to rest this Saturday, and in a touching act of kindness, the funeral home planning her burial has promised to donate the £25,000 fees to her two sons.

FA Albin & Sons, an undertakers based in South London, has organised the service to guidelines set out by Goody herself, who died on Mother's Day. She planned the funeral in the weeks leading up to her death, which will take place in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the company's director, Barry Albin-Dyer, confirmed that they would be donating their fees to the trust fund Goody set up for her young sons, and will also be giving money to her cervical cancer charity.

The two boys, Freddie, four, and Bobby, five, will not attend Saturday's ceremony though. In an attempt to escape the media glare, their father, Jeff Brazier, is taking them to Australia.

Those that will be in attendance include many of Jade's friends from the entertainment world. Richard and Judy, Kerry Katona, Jamelia and the Sugababes are all expected.

Attendees at the service will receive special edition candles, featuring an image of Jade and the words, 'An ordinary Woman, an extraordinary life.'

£25k for a funeral? Is anyone else fed up with hearing about how much money is flowing? Can we now move on from all of this?

I'm sorry but I really don't agree with this. I feel very sorry for her sons and her family and I wouldn't wish what she went through on anyone but enough is enough. Twelve months ago she was being villified by the press and public for being a racist and a bully - now these same people are mourning her? It's hypocritical, and wrong to have pored over every salacious detail of her illness and subsequent death as though it is "entertainment".

Now the undertakers are jumping on the bandwagon. Sad to say but I doubt it will be long before they are catering for the funeral of another young mother, will they be so generous and waive that fee too?

Although it is always sad that such a young person died - I wonder - if I was being buried , would the undertakers forfeit their fees so my two children don't have to shoulder the bill...somehow I think not. Why are jade's children more deserving of this than anyone else's? She already made ample provision for them. Is 1 million pounds not enough??

25k for a funeral is ridiculous, Jade must be having the platinum service.
The whole thing is so over done. Lets focus on other issues now. The boys are financially ok, I don't want to hear the mothers story nor do I want to see Tweed being interviewed.

i lost my freind to this illness 2 years ago she was 28 years old, no one shared our pain. I am a huge fan of the way jade shared her illness and her death will everyone and highlighted cervical cancer to all women - who knows how many women she has saved. Lets hope it never happens to anyone who has been negative about jade, her boys or the money shes has made. I say well done and rest in peace.
