Angelina Jolie is planning to adopt an Indian orphan, according to reports.

The actress is said to have revealed her secret to a child star of Slumdog Millionaire at this year's Oscars.

Azharuddin Mohammed, ten, asked the actress at last month’s Oscars bash if she planned to bring up an Indian orphan.

Angelina is said to have replied: 'Well, I’ll let you into a little secret, we will soon.'

She met Azharuddin and Rubina Ali, nine, backstage in Los Angeles after Slumdog won eight Oscars.

Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt – who already have three adopted children and three biological tots – have shown an interest in adding an Indian child to their 'rainbow family' before.

In November 2006 they visited an orphanage in Pune and spent more than an hour meeting children and handing out toys.

The adoption centre’s chief said at the time: 'Brad and Angelina were lovely and adore kids. Every move and every look of the couple was filled with love for our children and we were floored with their genuine affection.

'It was great excitement not only for our kids but for our staff as well.'

And it was reported at the time that Brad wanted to adopt a boy who the pair planned to call India.

Whether or not that's true is uncertain, but it seems the pair may be stepping up their plans to adopt from India now.
