Jade Goody picks burial site

Jade Goody, Celebrity News

Jade Goody has picked out the place she'll be buried. The reality TV star, who was recently christened while in hospital, has decided to be buried in a traditional service at the St John the Baptist church in Essex, with the ceremony conducted by minister Corinne Brixton who christened not only Jade, but her two sons, too.

'She wants everybody to be there, with plenty of room outside for screens,' Jade's publicist Max Clifford said.

'She wants it to be a big celebration because it's her final farewell to everybody.

'It will be a very Jade Goody event, exactly the way she wants it.'

Reverend Brixton explained why the reality TV star had chosen St John the Baptist, telling the Daily Star: 'Jade really loves this church.'

Meanwhile, OK! magazine has found itself in hot water for publishing a tribute issue to Jade this week, before she'd even died.

The magazine, which went on sale on Tuesday, featured the strap line 'in loving memory' and carried the words 'Jade Goody Tribute Issue 1981 – 2009'.

More than 60 complaints have been lodged with the Press Complaints Commission, who are now deciding whether to conduct a formal enquiry.

'Quite a few of the complaints refer to the impact of the magazine's [coverage] on Jade's family,' a spokesperson said.

'We need to discuss the matter with Jade's family to see if they want us to take the complaints forward to investigate.'

What did you think of OK!'s issue? Leave your thoughts below.

I think it is disgusting that OK magazine could sell a tribute issue before Jade has even left us. It is absolutly sickening that they care more about their own sales than the situation the poor girl is in. They have done well to make it look as though they actually care about her by covering her wedding etc but in reality it is just clear that its all about sales for them. After all what would they publish during the weeks while she was still alive. I will never buy OK magazine again. Utterly disrespectful to Jade and her family!
Comment by brooke on March 20 10:03

utterly insensitive. disgusting behaviour - all OK was thinking about was maximising sales of its magazine. A depressing reminder of the overly commercial world we live in.
Comment by polly on March 20 12:44

I have to admit, I did do a double-take when I saw it in the shop - it does seem in rather poor taste when she's not even dead yet.
Comment by Cat on March 20 12:49

I think Jade would probably love it! She is looking for as much publicity and money as possible and selling this before she died, and then the fuss after is just generating more publicity.
Comment by Hel Cruse on March 20 12:50

The OK magazine so-called Tribute Edition is tasteless in the extreme. Bottom line is that they wanted to beat all other publications to the post in order to ensure optimum sales, and so they took advantage of their already developed relationship with Jade and her family - thinking they wouldn't object. But whether they do object or not, is beside the point... all reasonable thought says that OK's haste was crass and tasteless, their greed transparent. It is a timely reminder to us all of the greed of the many publishers who really only want our money. We can reject this greed to our advantage by NOT BUYING THEIR PUBLICATIONS.

it's disgusting but then I think the whole way it has been reported is too much. I get she wants to make money for her sons but there comes a point when enough is enough!
Comment by Sara on March 20 13:27

so what it was a genuine reply and was not meant to offend any body by ok jade is a no body just because she has been on big brother big deal plenty other people are dying of the same thing
Comment by rhonda on March 20 13:37

I couldn't believe it when I saw the tv advert and had to ask if she had in fact died as I had missed the news, it really was in poor taste. But then I think the whole media coverage has been in poor taste, I understand she wants to provide as best she can for her two boys when she's dead but I personally feel the coverage has taken things one step too far! It's something that happens to us all in the end but surely you would want to die with dignity at times it seemed more like a circus show we were being invited to watch!
Comment by Elaine on March 20 14:13

I dont think OK would have gone ahead with the issue if they hadnt got the go ahead from Max Clifford. His entire handling of Jade's illness has been entirely unethical and exploitative of someone who doesn't seem to realise that selling her own death is a terrible idea.
Comment by Kate on March 20 14:13

I'm sorry but who does she think she is ? Princess Dians? It is tragic what has happended to Jade but she isn't the only person in the world to be suffering from cancer. At the end of the day she has courted publicity since Big Brother, made a lot of money with book deals, magazine deals, perfume deals, need one go on?!!! Surely all this money would have given her children a very comfortable lifestyle and the whole OK deal would not have been necessary. How many terminally ill people are able to do what Jade is doing in order to make money for their off- spring?! Enough is enough and I certainly won't be buying any tribute edition magazine.
Comment by zoe on March 20 14:16

Jade Goody is a nobody- the way she has sold herself to the media because of herself is disgusting. Anyone would think that she is the only young woman ever to be dying of cancer. People like Patrick Swayze, and the late Wendy Richards, have/had cancer- as did christina applegate- and they have handled their illnesses with dignity. Jade is pretty warped to be living her dying days in the media!

She got famous for being fat and naked on BB, as well as not knowing where east anglia is. She conned people in to buying a fitness dvd when she has a load of plastic surgery, and did a load of desperate programmes on Living tv. Then she became a public hate figure for the celeb BB racism row- now everyone says they love her because she is ill.

I didnt need a tribute issue to sum up her life! I certainly won't purchase any magazine that has her in it, let alone OK magazine.

With the greatest of respect, she should focus on her kids- NOt the media
Comment by Scarlet on March 20 17:01

Jade Goody has never contributed anything useful to humankind, healthy or sick. I remember she ran the London marathon, and collapsed after 5 miles because she had done no training and just eaten plenty of curry, when there were hundreds of applicants that did train but couldn't get a place on it. I'm sure her sons would have been in a good financial situation anyway. She is no role model for anyone. I've known incredibly honorable, inspiring people who have fought/are fighting against cancer, and I'm sure plenty of others will know someone too.
Comment by Melissa on March 20 18:10

Zoe - your comment is stupid. Jade will never be able to watch her children grow and support them emotionally and financially in their future. She wants them to be as comfortable as possible; is that so hard to understand?
Yeah, the whole media thing isn't everyones idea of dignity but, whatever your belief, Jade has brought cancer to the media and perhaps encouraged people to get checks regulary.
People who judge her for getting money are simply sick. Her life = her choice, our money = our choice to buy the trashy mags.
Comment by Morv on March 20 19:51

I notice that all these people complaining seem to have read the article um....
Comment by jacqui on March 20 22:20

This is to all but especially to Rhonda and Zoe who have left comments. Who wouldn't do what they could for their children before passing away. As someone in the public eye Jade has not only raised money for her two sons but raised the profile of cervical cancer and set people, especially in government, debating lowering the age of people screened. If that saves just one life then she has used her "celebrity " well.God Bless her
Comment by maura on March 20 22:45

Shocking - I thought she had died when I saw the cover. Can't they wait?
Comment by Gill on March 21 07:13

I thought she had died also when I saw the advert on tv. I respect her for wanting to make as much money as she can for her boys, but for OK to put out this issue before she is dead and call it a tribute is in very poor taste. Maybe if they had called it 'this is your life' or just called it a review, it might not have been so objected to.
Comment by Carole from Doncaster on March 21 13:44

On page 66 of OK! Magazine were the words "Just before she died" So according to OK! she had in fact died.

The whole Jade story has been blown out proportion and an insult to real cancer sufferers, one of which was my father who died back in 2007.
Comment by M Smith on March 21 14:31

She has now been told that there is no room in that graveyard. Do we really need to know every little in and out of the whole shebang? Give it a rest now and die with dignity
Comment by Joy on March 21 16:01

This has simply gone too far.

An OK tribute is pre-mature, crass and greedy. Jade may or may not approve, but the effects are still the same: giving more and more attention to a minor celebrity who does not want to be forgotten. It was one thing at first, to feel sympathy for Jade and her family. But her publicist had previously stated that "the world would not watch Jade dying", and what are we getting now? Regular updates on how Jade is doing, how her family is doing, her last wishes during her final days, etc. Can anyone imagine what families of their loved ones who are going through the EXACT same thing must feel? This bombardment of headlines is creating less sympathy, not more.
Comment by Lana on March 21 22:25

I think at the end of the day she has made the best of a bad situation, she has been in a position where she was able to secure her family's future and used that to their advantage, the poor girl has been so ill and probably the last thing she wanted at times was a camera shoved in her face or to sit through an interview but she did it for her boy's and i don't blame her. The girl is now dead why do you all think that it is acceptable to say the things you have. In my mind the only people who are out of order are the people bad mouthing her, she is not out on as shopping trip with all the money she has made - have some respect!! she has raised a lot of awareness and saved peoples lives by doing this and i'm sure that if all the complaining people on these websites had the chance to make a good amount of easy cash to leave for their family that they would. Jade was lucky enough to prepare herself and her family and friends for her death, yes their are tons of other people with the same illness and you don't hear so much about them as they are not in the spotlight but jade has made people aware and by doing what she has done she has given other people the wake up call to get checked and put plans in place incase the worst was to happen. Jade Goody is an inspiration.
