Whoopi Goldberg: Patrick Swayze is kicking butt

Patrick Swayze is ‘kicking butt’ and training hard for a new TV series, according to old friend Whoopi Goldberg.

The cancer-struck actor – who starred with Whoopi in the 1990 smash hit Ghost – has started work on a second series of The Beast, just days after he was pictured looking extremely frail.

The Dirty Dancing star asked his friend Whoopi to put rumours of his decline to bed, so she willingly obliged on US talk show The View yesterday.

She said: ‘He’s actually quite good. He’s in very, very good spirits. He’s in the middle of writing a book with (his wife) Lisa.

‘He’s working his tail off. He’s sick - there’s no getting around it - but, like all of us, we all know we’re going to die. We don’t know when and what’s going to take us.

‘As it turns out, there’s no expiration date on his a**, so he’s going forward. He’s going back into training for The Beast, because he’s running and jumping in it.’

Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer early last year and has stoically announced he won’t go down without a very fierce fight.
