Rihanna row 'just a tiff'
By Carla Bevan on Monday 16 March 2009
The altercation between Rihanna and her boyfriend, Chris Brown, was 'just a tiff', lawyers acting for Brown will argue in court as they try to get their star client off the hook.
The singer has already appeared in court to hear the charges against him, but his legal team hope that's as far as the complaint will go and are pushing for a special court hearing in LA next week.
'He will argue it was a misunderstanding between two young people passionately in love,' a source tells The Sun.
It has not been made clear yet whether Rihanna herself is pressing charges, although in California the state is able to prosecute an individual for assault even if the victim declines to do so.
However, given the couple seem to have patched up their differences already, Rihanna being the one to file the official complaint seems unlikely.
In New York last week, celebrating her belated 21st birthday, she told fans she was 'doing fine'.
However, reports the couple had recorded a duet together appear a little far-fetched.
Last week, a publicist for producer Polow da Don apparently told CNN he had laid down a track with Rihanna and Brown - da Don went as far as issuing a statement saying the pair are 'both great artists to work with - however, the story has since been denied.
While Rihanna and Brown did sing together for da Don, it was well before the alleged assault and only as a point of reference for a song Brown and da Don had written together.
