Beckhams borrow Clooney mansion

What a generous guy that George Clooney is – he's lent David Beckham his £4 million Lake Como retreat so he can 'unwind' while his transfer battle between AC Milan and LA Galaxy continues.

David will spend time relaxing at the villa – where Victoria has also reportedly stayed – while he waits to see if LA Galaxy will release him from his five-year contract.

An Italian source told Hello! magazine: 'George has really taken David under his wing since the transfer trouble started. At the house, David is able to get away from everything, relax and switch off in private.'

The luxury pad is just half an hour away from Beckham's Milan base.

David's LA club has so far refused to sell him to AC Milan, and Becks is due back in America on 9 March.

But, after spending two months on loan in Italy, Beckham is said to have his heart set on finishing his football career there.

Clooney, 47, and Beckham, 33, became friends after being introduced by Giorgio Armani at the Met Ball in New York in May last year.

And now, apparently, they're bezzy buds.

'Their friendship has gone to the next level since David started using George's home,' the source added.
