Jade's granddad: She'll keep fighting
By Ruth Doherty on Friday 6 February 2009
Cancer-stricken Jade Goody’s grandfather has insisted she’s a ‘battler’ and will continue in her fight to beat cervical cancer.
John Caddock said: ‘She’s so brave and she’ll keep fighting until there’s no fighting left to do.
‘The news her cancer has spread has hit us very hard.’
The 70-year-old told The Sun: ‘It’s going to be a tough time for all of us, but we love her with all our hearts.’
John, who is the father of Jade’s mother Jackiey, also said the family were getting ready to ‘rally around’ her two sons, Bobby, five, and Freddy, four.
Jade was left devastated after news that her cancer had spread to her liver, bowel and groin, with doctors telling her they were now fighting to prolong her life, rather than cure her cancer.
But doctors yesterday put her on a two-month course of a new drug called Topotecan, which, Jade says, has given her a ‘glimmer of hope’.

I wish Jade all the luck for the future, keep fighting - you are an inspiration to your family - is it not a good idea to leave her & her family alone during this extremely agonising time?

This comment is for Sara - I feel every sympathy for Jade but it's her who keeps going to every TV show and magazine, and pantomime - to keep the money coming in "for the boys". I'm sick of opening a magazine and seeing her bald head - surely the best example she can set is to warn every young woman to use condoms and not to be free and easy - I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but Jade has shocked us in the past - and as humans, we don't want to be reminded every second of the day of her battle, life is too short (not intended as a pun)- and surely the rest of us should enjoy life and not wallow all the time in other people's mishaps. It's a very depressing time of year anyway, and we would like a little relief from sickness and worry!!!

I am appalled and fuming at Cate's (Cate??) comments. How DARE you slag off another human being for fighting one of life's cruelest battles when she has 2 beautiful and well brought up sons to think of. If I was Jade I would be broadcasting it from the rooftops to warn every young woman of the risks of not having routine smear tests. I truly admire Jade for sharing this battle with us, from diagnosis to gruelling chemo resulting in her hair loss, just to ensure her gorgeous sons have money to continue their education after she has lost her battle with this aggressive form of cancer. Your comments are heartless and cruel and may you never live to eat your words and I sincerely hope that you do not have children who will learn from your childish and cruel example. If you are 'sick of the magazines', don't read them, If you are 'sick of the programmes', Don't watch them, but have a heart and pray for those less fortunate than yourself - if you have it in you.
