Nicole Kidman showcased some serious 60s chic on the set of new cinematic musical Nine in Rome this week.

With her Brigitte Bardot-inspired beehive, and oversized (hopefully faux) fur coat, she was the picture of Swinging Sixties cool.

The movie, based on a 1982 Broadway play of the same name, follows the exploits of famous film director Guido Contini, played by Daniel Day Lewis, in early 60s Venice.

As he approaches his 40th birthday, Guido struggles to find balance between his work and personal life.

His main problem? More women than he can handle. The stellar cast list includes his wife Luisa (Marion Cotillard), mistress Carla (Penelope Cruz), muse and protégé Claudia (Nicole Kidman), and his beloved mother Mamma, played by Sophia Loren.

Other stars sharing screen space include Kate Hudson and former Black Eyed Peas singer and newlywed Fergie.

Rob Marshall is directing the picture for the Weinstein Company (yes, headed up by Marchesa mogul Georgina Chapman’s hubby Harvey Weinstein), for whom he previously directed his other smash musical movie, Chicago.

And with an A-list line-up like this, and a costume wardrobe like that, he’s undoubtedly set for another surefire hit.
