Katie, Tom and Suri hit the beach

It's a typical scene - a young family playing and relaxing on the beach, however, things are far from typical when the family in question is Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and the world's most recognisable tot, Suri.

On holiday in Rio de Janeiro, Tom and Katie hit the beach this weekend, taking a well-earned break, following his worldwide promotional tour for new movie Valkyrie, and her Broadway stint in play, All my Sons.

Betraying their superstar status however, the actress left the Copacabane Palace Hotel not clad in your typical shorts and tee, but in a pretty cornflower sundress teamed with sky-high, four-inch Louboutin heels. Luckily, she ditched them once she reached the sand, although the ubiquitous A-list shades stayed put, as did the hefty security team.

Proving her fashion credentials pool-side, even her swimsuit was on-trend, with its asymmetric cut - a shape that's been an eveningwear favourite amongst the A-list of late (it was a key look at last week's SAG awards).

As for mummy's little fashionista, and Suri lived up to her repuatation as Hollywood's most stylish under-five, clad in a series of cuter-than-cute dresses, with pretty smock detailing. The social youngster also proved a hit with the locals, joining a group of children on the beach to hunt for shells.
