Winehouse on verge of death TWICE
By Ruth Doherty on Friday 23 January 2009
Amy Winehouse's parents have revealed the extent to which she sunk in her drug-fuelled hell in a revealing documentary to be aired on Sky.
Amy's dad, Mitch, reveals the troubled singer was on the verge of death twice at the lowest depths of her drug addiction.
But he confided that Amy is now winning her battle with drugs – and is now clean for the first time in years.
In the Sky TV documentary called Saving Amy, to air in March, Mitch says: 'She was close to death twice. We have been working a lot to get her to where she is right now. She is better.'
Interviewer Daphne Barak quizzed Mitch and his ex-wife, Amy's mum Janis, on her bleakest moments and her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil.
Mitch – a cabbie – recalled her 'lying in bed for days in a dark room' at her lowest moments.
And mum Janis speaks of her dislike for Blake, saying: 'When she was on tour with him, he just followed her round like a lap dog and he did nothing.
'So it's a case that he's earned his nobody position because he is a nobody.
'One time Blake called me mummy and it was like you could have stuck a knife in my belly. Mummy?'
Mitch also told how he personally had to inform his daughter Blake had filed for divorce while she was on holiday in St. Lucia.
He said: 'I had to call Amy before she heard about it from someone else.
'She asked me, "Daddy, why does he want to divorce me?"
'I said, "You know I don't like him, but I have to admit that your behaviour with another man is not what marriage is all about".'
Mitch added: 'If he goes back to her, they would kill each other.'

I pray that she gets better and her family somehow help her out of the drug hell she lives in because I also lived like her in terms of drugs and it was so sad and I had no one . The Only person I had was my wife and SHE got me through it and I pray she also does. This lady breaks my heart because I was that same person. And YES I am a fan!

Who cares?? We're deep in a credit crunch, some people haven't got a job, thousands are losing their homes, there is no hope of a quick recovery, and we are supposed to feel sorry for Amy? I have never bought any of her music, (I think it's rubbish) - never been to her concerts (she's always portrayed drugged), so why should I care??? She has millions to cushion her low life, she can go into rehab any time she likes(and on holidays), so again I ask why bother with her? And why does she keep getting chances - when millions are hopelessly looking for work?
