Why Katie raced 3,000 miles for Tom

Katie Holmes is one devoted wife: the actress raced 3,000 miles to make sure she could be with Tom Cruise at the Golden Globes in LA.

As soon as the actress had taken her bow in her final performance in the Broadway show All My Sons, she raced off to catch a helicopter out of New York – headed straight for LA, with little Suri in tow.

Back in LA, Tom walked the red carpet with his mum, Mary Lee Mapother, and looked forward to hooking up with Katie at the after parties.

He explained: ‘We discussed it, and Katie told me I should go. So I'm going to the Golden Globes with my mother. She's going to finish her show and we'll meet at the after parties.'

The actor and his wife were hoping to be celebrating Tom’s win for best supporting actor for his role in Tropic Thunder – but it wasn’t to be.

Heath Ledger received the posthumous honour for his portrayal in The Dark Knight.

A worthy winner to lose out to.
