Marie Claire Celebrity News: Cheryl Cole

Simon Cowell is so keen to make Cheryl Cole a superstar, he’s hired lawyers to sort out her visa problems, according to reports.

Cheryl received a criminal record in 2003 after she was convicted of assaulting a nightclub toilet attendant in Surrey.

But Simon is so convinced the Girl Aloud is set for global success, he’s even in talks about a spot on Oprah Winfrey’s show this year.

But, first up, Cheryl needs to obtain her ‘P’ Visa, which all entertainers need if they want to work Stateside.

‘Simon was dazzled by Cheryl’s performance on The X Factor,’ an insider told The Sun.

He’s certain he can turn her into a global star, but he just needs to iron out her visa problem.

‘He’s employed a firm of experts in Miami and is confident they will be able to reach some kind of arrangement.’

The source added: ‘What Cheryl did was a long time ago and entirely out of character.

‘She has never put a foot wrong since. Simon is certain her impeccable behaviour since her conviction should be stressed when they make their next application.’

It’s likely the Geordie lass will have to wrap up work on the Girls Aloud tour, Out of Control, which kicks off in April in Manchester and runs until June, before she, inevitably, takes America by storm.

oh so is that it now? does everyone forget what she has done in the past because she hasn't put a foot out of line for a couple of years? it would never happen to a member of the public.
