The former S Club 7 singer has admitted that she had to leave the TV studio after her emotions got the better of her when it sunk in Tom had won.
‘Everything was too much. I bawled - I was a blubbering wreck,’ she told The Sun.
‘My mum said, 'You're a winner to me, I can't tell you how well you've done, you've inspired me.' Alex [Bourne, her fiancé] was the same. He took me away and gave me a hug.’
Rachel faced Tom in the dance-off after Lisa Snowdon and her partner, Brendan Cole, were voted off, despite receiving perfect scores from the judges.
She added. ‘I was so elated to get through to the final two. But I did stand there just thinking, 'Please say Rachel and Vincent!'
‘I had a sixth sense Tom would do it. He has a massive fan-base out there and people love him. He was always going to do it.’
‘But to win would have been the icing on the cake. I'd have been so proud. I adore Vincent and I'd have loved to have won it for him. He is an amazing guy and I knew how much he wanted it.’
The salt has now been well and truly rubbed into the wound as pundits are now claiming that the Holby City actor is set to earn £1 million a year due to his new found profile.

I think Tom and Camilla deserved to win. They were never given the marks they deserved, I always felt the judges favoured Rachel and Lisa, even when they made mistakes. Tom and Camilla were far more entertaining which is what we want from a dance show.
