PeTA honours Leona Lewis
By Lucy Hutchings on Thursday 18 December 2008
Not only is Leona Lewis a super-talented singer, stunningly pretty and an all-round lovely person, she's now also PeTA's Person of the Year.
The Hackney-born star – and former X Factor winner - has been honoured by the animal rights group for her active anti-animal cruelty stance, which this year saw her turn down £1.5 million to open the Harrods summer sale – the department store is now the only one in the UK that still stocks fur.
Leona stole Stella McCartney's 2007 crown as this year's PeTA queen, and the group's Europe Director said: 'Leona Lewis is admired for her beautiful voice, but it's her kindness to animals that makes her a superstar in our book.'
Leona became a vegetarian at 12, doesn't wear fur or leather, and is looking to launch her own range of non-leather footwear.
Keep up the good work, Lewis!
