Strictly backlash against Tom

Tom Chambers, Strictly come dancing, Celebrity pictures, Marie Claire

The voting fiasco on Strictly Come Dancing has sparked an online backlash against actor Tom Chambers.

The Holby City star got through to the final after Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens tied at top place last week.

Thousands of people phoned in to save him but their votes were wasted as there was no way of keeping him out of the dance-off.

Ultimately, producers put all three in the final, meaning Tom could win despite him being the worst dancer last week.

Now Strictly fans have turned on him suggesting that, as the 'loser' in the piece, he should do the honourable thing and bow out.

On an internet forum, fans have written comments such as: 'Tom was the worst dancer. He should be withdrawn', and 'Tom might win but his status will always be questioned.'

And a BBC spokesman also reportedly told the Daily Star that Tom winning would be the 'worst-case scenario for us'.

He added: 'We've tried to make everything above board and be as fair and open as possible, but we fully expect to take a load more flak if he steals the crown. The whole point of the show depends on people believing that their votes count.

'If they lose that belief we could be in real trouble.'

Whatever happens, we can't wait for the final!

How mean. This is an entertainment programme, not a general election! Tom has contributed so much to this series and a final with 3 couples will be much more entertaining than having just 2. The final 4 have been so closely matched and any of these deserve to win. So looking forward to Saturday night - classy tv. Go for it Tom, you deserve your place in the final.

These comments are dreadful.Tom Chambers did not create this situation and he is a very talented dancer.

Maybe he was the porest performer last week but he has performed better than either Lisa or Rachel in earlier weeks and no-one cried for them to leave.

If he performs better than either of the girls in the final he deserves to win.

This is ridiculous!! As the only dancer in the semi-final who had NEVER been in the dance off I fully expected him to go on and win the series until this whole fiasco kicked off!! Yes he had a bad week, but he has performed consistently well and obviously been popular. I love Rachel and think she's amazing, but it seems that unless her or Lisa score top marks with the judges they find themselves in the bottom 2. I think the saddos on the forums need to get a life, get into the real world and stop taking this so seriously - it's only TV!!

Where have some of the comments come from! Were they watching the programme? Tom's dance was rubbish and he should have been out. I personally as a professional dancer think Lisa has made so much progress she deserves to win. THIS IS A DANCING CONTEST PEOPLE not a POPULARITY POLL AS TO WHOSE THE BEST ACTOR.

Tom has never been in the bottom two at any time in the series which only means he has the public support. On the other hand, both Lisa and Rachel have been in the bottom two at some point, despite their good performances and were just saved by the judges on those occasions.

I think it was just fair that they allowed all 3 to be in the finals. As they said, even if Tom garners the highest point for the public votes, he would have been in the dance off and for sure the judges will choose to vote him out given the fact that they have top marks to the two female celebrities.

I am so pleased that Tom and Camilla won!

People are only feeling bitter as not every vote was counted in the semi-final (yet Tom and Camilla were the couple with the highest votes still so what does this tell you?) the rightful person won fair and square and by public opinion Tom and Camilla won! I actually voted for both Tom and Rachel as it was a very tough decision in crowning the king but the right person won and people need to get a grip and get over it. Well done Tom and Camilla!

Surely the BBC and Strictly producers must now do something about deciding who stays and who goes. How can Lisa dance 2 perfect scoes of 40 from the jugdes still be eliminated fron the competition. I dont want to take anything away from Toms victory, as his showdance was the best ever on strictly, But the correct decision should have been Lisa and Rachel in the Final. tom blew his chances with last weeks poor Jive performance
