Madonna's Argentina return 12 years after Evita

Madonna and Ingrid Betancourt, Celebrity news, World news, Marie Claire

Madonna has once again proved she is a multi-faceted pop star by meeting the President of Argentina while she performs in the country for the Latin American part of her Sticky and Sweet tour.

The Queen of Pop took time out from her corsets and hot pants to meet President Cristina Fernandez and Ingrid Betancourt, the ex guerrilla-held Colombian hostage, rescued earlier this year.

Dressed in a demure black satin wrap dress, Madge was catapulted back in time when visiting the Presidential palace, remembering when she played Argentina's first ladies, Eva Peron, 12 years ago.

While her off-stage duties are building relationships, the same cannot be said for the singer's on-stage performances. Yesterday Madonna cancelled her Buenos Aires show, citing technical difficulties as the reason. Apparently fans were let down after some of the sound equipment needed for the spectacle failed to arrive in time.
