The X Factor finalists performed a secret gig yesterday on London's Oxford Street, for just 28 lucky competition winners.

Taking place in the basement of the Carphone Warehouse shop, Diana Vickers, Eoghan Quigg, Alexandra Burke and boy band JLS all performed a selection of songs from the show, for the intimate crowd.

Each of the final acts sang two songs, except Alexandra who was nursing a sore throat.

Speaking to the crowd, the finalists then opened up on the impending final, and even on Britney Spears' much-criticised performance on Saturday night's show.

Alexandra jumped to the defence of the pop princess, saying, 'She put on a really good show. She looked amazing, too.'

As for news that she had been named the bookie's favourite, she added: 'It's very, very scary. I got that news yesterday. It actually shocked me as I wasn't expecting that.'

The semi-finals take place this Saturday, with the show culminating the following week. The winner will release a version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah just in time for Christmas.
