Christine Bleakley has become the latest star to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing.

Having managed to avoid the dance-off all series, the One Show presenter found herself in the bottom two alongside Rachel Stevens.

After Christine and her partner, Matthew Cutler, performed a tango and Rachel and Vincent Simone repeated their waltz, all four judges unanimously agreed it was the TV presenter's turn to go.

'Both couples danced their hearts out tonight and that was obvious,' said Craig Revel Horwood, 'but the couple I am going to save are Rachel and Vincent.'

After hearing the news that she hadn't made it to the quarter final, Christine revealed she couldn't believe she had gone so far in the competition.

'I thought I would go in the first week. It's been absolutely incredible. I can't thank people enough for their support. In Northern Ireland and over here.'

She added, 'I'm going to miss him [Matthew] every day more than anything.'

Meanwhile, in other Strictly news, it's been announced that Saturday night's episode attracted half a million fewer viewers than last weekend's show, which saw the popular John Sergeant perform his last waltz.

The reality show peaked at 11.2 million viewers, leaving it lagging behind the X Factor in the ratings war, who managed to reel in an audience of 12.8 million thanks to Britney Spears's comeback performance.
