Amy’s husband admits he is to blame for her drug-taking
Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has reportedly confessed that he is to blame for introducing the troubled singer to hard drugs.
In a newspaper interview with the News of the World, Fielder-Civil admits he ‘dragged Amy into it (drugs)’ and ‘without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road’.
The revelations come as the drug addict serves out the remainder of a 27-month jail sentence for assault at a rehab clinic in Surrey.
In an outpouring of guilt, Fielder-Civil continued: ‘I made the biggest mistake of my life taking heroin in front of her. I introduced her to heroin, crack, cocaine and self-harming. I feel more than guilty.’
Perhaps the 26-year-old is confessing all as part of his drug rehab programme, but it is unlikely to make Fielder-Civil popular with Amy’s family and friends, who have spoken out against the couple’s marriage from the start.
He also admitted that he was too weak to prevent the star from turning to hard drugs. ‘The first time Amy took crack she asked me, “Can I try a bit of that?” But I was weak and an addict and I let Amy take some.’
Fielder-Civil revealed that he was present when Amy had her first seizure from an overdose and was terrified by the breakdown.
‘I was there when Amy suffered her first seizure. I still break down thinking about it. We had been taking drugs all day long – heroin and crack.
‘It was heartbreaking, seeing someone you love more than yourself, someone you would die for, someone you would kill for on the floor shaking.’
