Marie Claire celebrity news: Robert Kilroy-Silk

Robert Kilroy-Silk has become the first person to be voted off I'm A Celebrity.

The politician and former TV presenter narrowly lost out to former police chief, Brian Paddick, with Ant and Dec revealing there was less than 0.5% between them in the public vote.

After being greeted with a glass of champagne, Kilroy-Silk admitted that he was disappointed to be given the boot.

'I pleaded with the viewers for another night, just one more night, but they wouldn't give it to me,' he said.

After a rocky start in the show involving confrontations with Carly Zucker and, the incredibly annoying, Timmy Mallett, Kilroy-Silk became popular within the camp and won the group a grand total of 22 food stars in the infamously gruelling Bush Tucker Trials.

'It was what I expected, but it was more challenging,' he revealed.

'I never thought I would do the live trial but I was glad I was given the opportunity. The me that was there is me, whether I'm nasty or nice that was me, I'm myself.'

Before dashing off to be reunited with his family, the MEP tipped former tennis ace Martina Navratilova to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
