Gordon Ramsay has pulled out of a TV appearance on a Channel 4 chat show in the midst of allegations he has had an affair.

The TV chef was due to appear on Paul O'Grady's show but cancelled his slot at short notice, following allegations of an affair with a 'professional mistress'.

The celeb chef, who owns a string of restaurants and has carved out a successful television career for himself, has repeatedly refused to answer questions about the alleged infidelity and posed for photographers on Sunday with wife Tana, in a show of solidarity.

The father of four has always painted himself as a man with strong family values; just last year he told woman&home: 'Tana grounds me, big time. Between her and my mum, they are definitely the reason that I'm sane.'

'I make sure I get her lots of treats! That's a big thing, but I also leave her notes in her wardrobe saying how much I miss her as I'm away a lot at the moment,' he added.

The 42-year-old has neither confirmed or denied the allegations that he slept with mistress Sarah Symonds, who claims she has also had a number of relationships with high-profile individuals.

Ramsay has admitted to knowing Ms Symonds, however, the News of the World, who first broke the story last weekend, reports that the Michelin-starred chef has been having an affair for the last seven years. The story even claims Ramsay has slept with Ms Symonds twice in the last two weeks.

Paul O'Grady was due to interview Ramsay on Monday, but the show's production team were forced to replace him at the last minute with comedian Brian Conley.

Publicist guru Max Clifford revealed he had been contacted on a number of occasions by Ms Symonds who has hopes of launching a media career just as Rebecca Loos did following claims of her affair with David Beckham.

Clifford commented: 'She was extremely bright, very intelligent and articulate and extremely ambitious, and determined to make a name for herself.'

This is what you get when you become famous, a power hungry woman who will sleep with whoever, just to throw the dirt out when it get leaked to the press.

Gordan if this is true then you are one VERY silly Man, who could now lose everything he has so worked very hard for.

It is a huge shame.

He or she should be honest with the unsuspecting partner and finish that relationship first before embarking on another.

Someone in his position is always going to have women throwing themselves at them. In this day and age let's just take it as what it was, a meaningless fling, when it's shoved in fron of you on a plate it IS hard to say NO. I hope that Tana sticks by him and he learns from this very silly mistake. It's hard not to feel that the woman didn't do this with the sole intention of selling her story but, come on Gordon - 7 YEARS!!! I hope you appreciate what you have a hell of a lot more now and think Tana deserves a REALLY good Xmas pressie - toy boy perhaps?

If its been going on for seven years why reveal it now? It's such a shame because no matter whether it's true or false mud sticks. l am a huge fan of Gordan Ramsey and l think people forgive his bad language because of his strong belief in family values and undeniable talent, so come on Gordan don't let her get away with it if its a lie boldly state it in any colour language you choose.

It's no real surprise that someone as arrogant as Ramsay was having an affair is it? What's really disgusting though is this woman who just wants to make money out of ruining another woman's marriage. It's one thing being in love with a married man but just doing it for publicity and cash is sick.

Let's hope that this silly woman isn't able to make a career for herself in media like Rebecca Loos has after her alleged affair with David Beckham. How can she think that people will respect her when the only thing we know her for is sleeping with other women's husbands. I hope Gordon and Tana come out of this stronger than ever.

Gordon how could you? and even more stupid to think that you would not be cought concidering who you are. that is if u did it. if you did than you owe it to your wife to come clean and give her a public appoligie as she has been publically humiliated. as for the woman who has put this out shame on you if lying on your back is the only way that you can make something of yourself than you need God in your life

Hang on! What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Famous people are an easy target-has anyone out there even thought that maybe this story isn't actually true? That perhaps Ms Symonds is on the make and on the take trying to get publicity at the expense of another person's reputation? G.R knows the truth of this matter. Leave him be.

First off, these are allegations, as yet not proven to be true. Secondly, with the number of shows that he has going (Kitchen Nightmares UK, Kitchen Nightmares US, Hell's Kitchen, The F Word), on top of running his restaurants and writing cookbooks (I guess that doesn't have to take a lot of time), where in the world would he even have time to see his own family, never mind find time to skulk around after some woman? I'll reserve my opinion, it's unlikely.

He didn't have an affair he just had sex now and again and probably treated Symonds as a personal prostitute. It still makes him a hypocrite considering he constantly gave interviews about how much he loves his wife, even going into detail about what great sex they have. (they are always the worst)
I feel very sorry for his wife and children as he's clearly not quite the man she thought he was.
