Gwyneth Paltrow apologises for wearing fur
By Suzannah Ramsdale on Tuesday 25 November 2008
Gwyneth Paltrow has apologised to animal rights campaigners for wearing fur in an ad campaign for Tod's.
Back in August the actress angered activists after she donned a fox fur shrug and fur-lined boots for the luxury brand's autumn collection.
The Hollywood actress is said to be upset about the criticism, especially since she and her husband, Chris Martin, portray an eco-friendly image.
Gwynnie has now publicly apologised for her actions, putting it all down to an unfortunate misunderstanding.
'That was awkward, because I do not wear fur at all,' she told PETA. 'It was a day-long photoshoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all kinds of clothes – none with fur.
'During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulders. I didn't pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur I assumed it was fake fur but did not ask, so it's my fault.'
'I know it's not a great excuse,' she added.
The A-lister is not the most recent celebrity to receive scathing criticism from anti-fur campaigners. Liz Hurley has also caused controversy by modelling a mink coat for a Blackglama advert.

its diabolical that so called top designers are still using fur, if they had to strip the pelts from the still alive animals themselves, they may think again, all puplic figures should be against this 'fashion' of it will become acceptable once more. Fake fur is so good there is no excuse for modern society to use the real thing, it always looks better on the animal, so leave it there, shame on you Gwyn.
