MP: 'Strictly judges should go'
The John Sergeant vs Strictly Come Dancing affair rumbles on, with a cabinet minister now calling for the judges on the show to be sacked.
Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy says it should be the judges who lose out, rather than Sergeant, who stepped down from the contest earlier this week.
'I think we need to get rid of the judges rather than John,' says Murphy. 'The show is family entertainment and good fun and John is emblematic of that, rather than taking himself so seriously.'
Sergeant, a former political reporter, resigned from the ballroom dancing competition after weeks of being savaged by the judges but being saved by public vote.
He stepped down from the show on Wednesday, saying he was worried he could win the series, which would be 'a joke too far'.
Speaking on BBC’s Question Time, Murphy said the judges 'don’t know what this programme is all about' and said they should go instead of Sergeant.
You can watch Sergeant, 64, take his final turn about the dancefloor this Saturday night.

He should be allowed to carry on dancing,
or if not they should close down the whole
show, they should also get rid of the judges.
