Lipstick Jungle not cancelled – yet

Lipstick Jungle fans can breathe a (temporary) sigh of relief after news that the show has not yet been cancelled.

There was mild panic in the marie claire offices last week when news hit that our replacement for Sex and the City was to get the axe after showing lacklustre ratings.

However, it seems the NYC series, based on the novels by SATC author Candice Bushnell, lives to fight another day after NBC bosses revealed viewing figures are creeping up.

Maybe it's the credit crunch, maybe it's the saving up for Christmas gifts, but viewers are glued to their sofas in the gloomy weather and those who can't afford that brand new clutch or fabulous pair of heels can at least drool over the fashion forward offerings on Lipstick Jungle.

The show has picked up 50% more viewers Stateside in the last week and rumours of a cancellation have brought out the fashionista fans in their droves to defend the programme.

Brooke Shields, whose career has been given a new lease of life thanks to the series, told reporters: 'They're not breaking down the sets. We're still working. We still have more to do, so it's erroneously presented that we've been cancelled, thank God.' We quite agree Brooke.

Keep Lipstick Jungle going!!!! Finally something decent to watch on TV. It's right up there with Brothers & Sisters. Lipstick Jungle is a well put together show so please keep it going!

No, no, no - you cant take this off air!! I havent been this excited sine SATC. My life would not be the same without my weekly fix of the girls and glamour!! (and of course the gorgeous Kirby!!)

You cant take this off the air. I love it as does many of my friends and sister. We live for this show. Especially now that Victory and Joe are back. You cant leave us hanging.

Please don't cancel Lipstick Jungle!!! I won't have anything to look forward to. I agree with with Dawn, I haven't been this excited since SATC. You just can't take it away from me.

You can't cancel lipstick jungle its the ONLY thing I watch since sex and the city I am so excited about this show it has everything for a fashion obsessed person like me! after only watching a few episodes I rushed out and bought the dvd and am waiting impatiently for the next season to be released PLEASE do not cancel.

PWEEEEEEEEEEZEE do not cancel Lipstick Jungle!!!! especially when Victory and Joe are due to get married and Nico and Kirby are back together which made me excited, and its the only thing I record on my Sky box on a Monday. It's my comfort tellie programme when my Fiance is at wrk.. PLEASE DONT PULL THE PLUG.
