Madonna's marriage tips for Britney

They once shared a romantic kiss on stage, and they both have two marriages behind them, so it's no surprise that Madonna has been offering Britney Spears some advice on relationships.

The pop icon, 50, told her young pop star friend that the pair should give up on finding new husbands – for good!

Madonna is in the process of divorcing her husband of eight years, Guy Ritchie. She reportedly confessed to Britney, 27, that she would never marry again and told Britney to do the same.

A source says, 'Britney asked Madonna if she will ever marry again after her split from Guy. Madonna not only said she wouldn't but told Britney to forget about marriage.'

The Material Girl also warned the Toxic singer that marriage is not made for feisty singers.

'She said it just doesn't work for girls like them,' the source told gossip website AbsoluteNow.com.

'Madonna clearly sees a lot of herself in Britney because she seems very eager to help her.'

Madge first walked down the aisle with actor Sean Penn in 1985, but the couple divorced just four years later. She married Lock, Stock director Guy in 2000, but announced the couple were divorcing just weeks ago.

Britney's first adventure into marriage was with her high school sweetheart Jason Alexander. The duo got hitched in Las Vegas, allegedly after a drunken night out in 2004, but the marriage ended after just 55 hours.

She divorced second husband Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, in 2006.
