X Factor fans appeal to Ofcom
Angry fans of X Factor contestant Laura White, who was voted off the show last week, have called for an investigation into the voting procedures.
More than 40,000 people have urged the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom to look into the possibility that Laura, 21, was unfairly rejected from the talent show.
Organisers of a petition to have her reinstated have made a formal complaint to Ofcom.
The complaint says there has been a 'lack of transparency in X Factory voting' and that viewers wanting to vote for Laura - mentored by judge Cheryl Cole - could not get through.
However, an X Factor spokesman told the Daily Mail there were no problems with the phone lines or the voting system during the show last week.
He said, 'The viewers vote for the act they want to keep in the competition and last Saturday the simple fact is Laura White and Ruth Lorenzo were in the bottom two because they had the least amount of votes.'
A spokesperson for Ofcom confirmed that they had received complaints about last Saturday's programme. 'These complaints are being assessed against our Broadcasting Code,' he said.
Before being dismissed by the judges, Laura, from Bolton, had been favourite to win the competition.

Since when was Laura ever the favourite to win the competition? yes she has a unique voice but I was under the impression that the lads were doing well with votes this year! You have to look at it like this: would you go out and BUY her album? for me thats a no for Laura!

I do think OFCOM should investigate, how can you go from being favourite to loser!! So many people cant get their call logged in time its simply not fair, i think X-Factor should do like 'Strictly' and let people have almost 24hrs to register their vote and then reveal the results, it stands to reason that if thousands cant get through to register their vote then the result is not a true reflection of the amount of votes!! Come on X-Factor if you dont sort this out you will lose ALL credibility!!
