Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel and plenty more A-list stars put on their glad rags last night for the fifth annual Keep a Child Alive ball in NYC.

Hosted by Alicia Keys, the glitzy shindig helps raise funds for the Aids charity Keen a Child Alice and, year after year, boasts a red carpet line-up to be proud of.

'I bat my eyes and I wink, said Alicia when asked how she managed to persuade so many big-name celebrities to attend. 'And we have great conversation, and they show up. It's a very important event.'

With cocktails, an auction, musical performances and dinner to keep the crowd entertained, everyone was full of praise for their glamorous host.

'She's a rare human being,' said John Mayer, who'd left girlfriend Jennifer Aniston at home. 'I'm proud to consider her a friend. I'm kind of a creep! It's about supporting a friend, and it's about myself feeling strong enough about it to help.'

Jessica Alba agreed: 'What she's done with this organisation, the money and awareness she's raised, is incredible. Becoming a mom makes everything more relevant. You feel the impact of every decision that's made.'

I believe Jessica Biel was in LA not in NYC there are photos of her walking her dog in Brentwood on the 13th
