Sienna Miller has triumphed in her legal case against the Sun and News of the World newspapers - and has been awarded £35,000 in damages over claims they breached her privacy rights.

The Edge of Love actress sued the papers over a series of what her lawyer said were intrusive articles and photos published in June and July.

Sienna secured a £35,000 out-of-court settlement, with the papers' publishers News Group Newspapers agreeing to pay Miller's legal costs, too.

Mark Thomson, of law firm Carter-Ruck, said terms of the settlement were approved by London's High Court. In a statement, he cited a letter from Tom Crone, News Group Newspapers' senior lawyer, who admitted the papers were at fault.

It read: 'We acknowledged that on the specific facts and circumstances of this case you [Miller] had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect of the information and the photographs that we published.

'We also accept that we should not have published such information or photographs.'

Sienna's tumultuous – and sometimes controversial – love life has long been seen as fodder for the tabloid press, which went into overdrive when her affair with Balthazar Getty – with whom she has now reportedly split – was exposed.

Carter-Ruck said Miller was still pursuing a legal case against photographic agency Big Pictures (UK) Limited, which she claims was guilty of harassment and invasion of privacy.

The photo agency is contesting the claims, and a trial has been scheduled for early next year.

IT IS FUNNY THAT MILLER MAKES THIS MONEY BY GETTING IN THE PAPER WHICH IS WHAT SHE WANTS, FLAUNTS HER RELATIONSHIP WITH A MARRIED MAN ALL OVER THE CONTINENT, SO SHE GOT FOUND OUT, WE AT LEAST KNOW WHAT SHE IS LIKE, AND ALL THE MONEY WON'T CHANGE THAT. MRS GETTY SHOULD SUE MILLER FOR THE HUMILIATION AND STRESS TO HER AND THE CHILDREN, AND I AM NOT LEAVING OUT GETTY, HE IS A SCUMBAG AS WELL, BUT AT LEAST A QUIET SCUMBAG, HAS NOT SAID MUCH WHICH IS HIS ONLY SAVING GRACE

It's amazing how many people are criticising Sienna about her courting the press and about her relationships. I don't believe she has courted anything. The press can take pictures of you if they want without your say so, you don't need to court anything. She may have fallen in love with a guy who was or wasn't separated from his wife. This happens all the time! No one knows what really happened so it's not good for people to judge. No one's perfect and celebrities are just human, they're not special or anything. I don't believe everything that is presented in the media and gossip mags.
