Patrick Swayze's chemotherapy 'hell'
Cancer-struck Patrick Swayze has described chemotherapy as 'hell on wheels'.
The Dirty Dancing star was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January but has continued to work as an actor.
In his first interview since his diagnosis, he said: 'I'm still fine to work, I haven't changed - oh, I have changed, what am I saying?
'It's a battle zone I go through. Chemo, no matter how you cut it, is hell on wheels.'
The actor recalled his first feelings of sickness last December, revealing he thought he had a persistent case of indigestion. 'Then all of a sudden real symptoms start showing up,' he said. 'You see it in the mirror and you go: "OK, better go get checked out."'
Despite his illness, Swayze is still working 12-hour days filming the police drama The Beast and is halfway through the series' 12-episode line-up.
And in his determination to beat the disease, the actor has only missed a day and a half of filming so far.
Doctors have been optimistic about his recovery. 'His scans have been clean and clear. But they always couch things in caution,' said Zack Van Amburg, co-president of Sony's television studio.
'They tell us things like: "He should be fit to work, as far as we can tell today. They have never said he's cured.'''
Swayze, 56, has reportedly recently put on a stone by drinking muscle-boosting milkshakes.
