Angelina Jolie surprise appearance

Angelina Jolie drew gasps from the audience when she made a surprise appearance at an awards show to honour veteran actor and director Clint Eastwood.

Looking stunning in a simple, sweeping black gown, the mum-of-six made a surprise appearance to present Eastwood with the Director of the Year gong at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards Gala.

While making the presentation to Clint, who directed her in his latest movie, The Changeling, she said: 'There are some people in this business that are icons, and we often wonder if, when we meet them, they'll live up to what we imagine them to be.

'And Clint Eastwood in person is even better.

'Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader. And I certainly would follow him anywhere.'

And Eastwood returned the compliment in his acceptance speech, gushing: ‘Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because you get to look on that gorgeous beauty every day. And she's a great talent.'
