With an Oscar buzz surrounding her new movie Rachel Getting Married, Anne Hathaway's career has definitely come a long way since The Princess Diaries. So what better way to gain more critical acclaim than a Broadway musical?

Yep, it’s rumoured that Anne is following in the footsteps of the likes of Katie Holmes, and has auditioned for a part in Promises, Promises – a comedy musical based on the film The Apartment by Billy Wilder.

According to Perez Hilton, the show, which ran on Broadway from 1968 to 1972, has never had a revival, and Will & Grace star Sean Hayes is also said to be lined up for a role.

Meanwhile, Anne wowed the crowds this week at the London Film Festival screening of her new movie, Rachel Getting Married, in a stunning blue and amethyst Zac Posen column gown, where she admitted that she's still single, but has her eye on a 'sexy' man in LA.

Lucky lad.
