Beckhams' housekeeper theft

Victoria and David Beckham's housekeepers have been arrested on suspicion of stealing goods from their home and selling them on eBay.

The alarm was raised by Victoria's parents who recognised the items on the internet auction site, and quickly headed over to Beckingham Palace in Sawbridgeworth, Herts, where they found the same items were missing and called the police.

A spokesman for the Hertfordshire Police today confirmed the theft had been reported on Friday afternoon, and that a 56-year-old woman and 55-year-old man had been arrested at their home in Essex in connection with the offence.

The police source told the Metro: 'The couple were taken to Hoddesdon Police Station where they were interviewed about an allegation of theft.

'They were later released on police bail to return to the station in November, pending further investigations.'

A source said that Tony and Jackie Adams called police after they noticed the 'unique' items on eBay.

'The property was, in some cases, unique but identical to that which was at Beckingham Palace, and when they checked out the mansion, they discovered the identical items were missing.

'It seems that the property was being offered on the website to the highest bidder - and obviously it may have had the Beckham pedigree attached.'

The source added: 'Detectives investigated the website auction details and discovered that the details given for the sellers of the property matched up to the address in Nazeing of the Beckhams' housekeepers.'
