Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds opted for a remote Canadian wedding so their guests could enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors, it has been revealed.

The couple got married in an isolated spot on Vancouver Island at the weekend, and People magazine reveals the so-cute couple chose Clayoquot Wilderness Resort for their nuptials, not just for its paparazzi-proof advantages, but because of its closeness to nature.

The groom himself got into the wilderness and went fishing for salmon and halibut, while other guests went horse riding and mountain biking on the grounds of the resort.

And the setting was no bling-bling hotel affair – Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is a luxurious outpost of 20 canvas tents, which cater to every need of the serious nature-lover.

A source told People: ‘Scarlett wanted a ceremony with just family and a few select friends.’

In fact, less than 40 people attended the ceremony, but those who didn’t will get the chance to drink a celebratory glass of bubbly with the newlyweds at the upcoming wedding party they’re reportedly planning.

Scarlett, 23, and Ryan, 31, began dating in April 2007, and announced their engagement in May 2008.

‘They make a great couple and they'll make an even better married couple,’ the source concluded.

What a perfect sounding wedding. That's exactly the kind of wedding I'd want (except for the tents) but intimate, and it just sounds so romantic. So much more then some massive do where the day takes over from what it's actually meant to be about. I like Ryan and Scarlett, think they're both fantastic and the kind of celebrities I like. Keep themselves to themselves and don't sell out by offering their personal moments to magazines for financial gain. I wish them all the luck in the world with their marriage.
