Sienna Miller wins damages
Sienna Miller has won £15,000 in damages and an apology from the Daily Star after the paper published a photo of her clearly in distress.
The Factory Girl star was pursued by photographers from the tabloid newspaper in Los Angeles last month. She claims she was 'harassed' by the paparazzi trying to get a picture of her.
The picture shows Sienna in the reception of an LA building, surrounded by photographers as she is waiting for a lift. Video footage taken at the same time shows the 26-year-old is clearly upset and red-faced.
Sienna's lawyers sued the newspaper shortly after the picture appeared on 11 September. A judge has now awarded her £15,000 in damages.
In addition to the payment, the Daily Star published a statement this morning. 'We accept, as we said in the article, that Ms Miller was extremely harassed and distressed by persistent pursuit and intimidating tactics adopted by numerous paparazzi in seeking to obtain photographs of her, including the very photograph that we published.
'We apologise to Sienna for publishing this photograph.'
The actress has also launched a separate invasion of privacy action against the News of the World and the Sun newspapers. She is seeking damages of at least £10,000 against the tabloids for publishing photos of her topless with boyfriend Balthazar Getty in Italy over the summer.

I feel sorry for her. I used to be in a position where people recognised me when I was out and about, and while it's flattering at first, it soon becomes annoying. I can only imagine that having people following you for photos is a whole lot worse. Having said that, if it's your behaviour that's causing you trouble, then it's your own fault, so she can't blame anyone but herself for being topless in a place where she could be photographed

Ordinary people get less money than this in compensation for medical negligence ect, which detrimentally impacts their entire lives. I think that this amount of money is an utter disgrace. If you choose to become an actress you can't just pick and choose when you wish to be photographed, it is alway seems to be OK for her to be photographed when she is publicising a film of hers. The world has gone mad!
