Meg Ryan’s ex-husband Dennis Quaid has hit back at her recent claims he cheated on her during their marriage.

Meg famously kept quiet about her private life for years, even when she was portrayed as a homewrecker for having an affair with actor Russell Crowe in 2000.

But the actress recently claimed that Quaid was actually unfaithful to her throughout their marriage, saying: ‘Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced.’

Quaid, who shares custody of their 16-year-old son Jack, responded: 'It was eight years ago, and I find it unbelievable that Meg continues publicly to rehash and rewrite the story of our relationship.

'Also, I find it regrettable that our son, Jack, has to be reminded in a public way of the turmoil and pain that every child feels in a divorce.

'I, myself, moved on years ago and am fortunate to have a happy, beautiful family.’

Dennis is now married to Texan estate agent Kimberly Buffington, and the couple have 11-month-old twins, Thomas and Zoe.

Meanwhile, Meg Ryan has returned to the big-screen after a well-documented career break - during which she went travelling around the world - in new movie The Women, which co-stars Annette Benning and Eva Mendes.
