Katie Holmes play debut tarnished
They may have been cheek-to-cheek in a show of solidarity but Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were met by anti-Scientology protestors at the preview performance for her Broadway debut.
Almost 100 people turned out at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York, just an hour before Katie took to the stage in Arthur Miller's All My Sons and stood behind the barricade shouting: 'Scientology kills!' and 'Free Katie.'
Some protestors were dressed in masks, akin to those worn in the movie V for Vendetta, but the golden couple ignored the onlookers and didn't let the demonstration spoil Katie's big night.
Just before the curtain went up, Tom Cruise entered the theatre, shook hands with onlookers and greeted another famous member of the audience, Dustin Hoffman, with a big hug.
Despite the opening night being marred by demonstrators, the ever-growing Katie Holmes fan base didn't dwindle, one attendee commented: 'I love Katie Holmes. I think she's a great actress and right now, I really love her for her fashion, her style! I think she really kind of differentiates herself among young Hollywood. Plus, she's a mom - and I just think she's a really good role model.'

why don't they leave them alone. It is so sad that they are always being knocked. from the birth of there daughter to what they believe in. If they were Catholic or Jewish, it would not be allowed. It has not hurt Madonna. Katie and Tom seem like a really nice couple.
