Nicole Richie has left boyfriend Joel Madden, according to US reports.

Star magazine claims the new mum had a storming row with Madden and returned to her own mother's house, taking daughter Harlow with her. However, the following day she returned home.

'This was her way of sending Joel a message,' an insider told the magazine.

Stateside gossip claim the relationship has been in trouble for some time, with the pair spending less and less time together in public, and more time socialising with other friends.

I truly feel that this is one of those relationships that happened too fast. I kinda feel that in a bid to change her wild ways. She fell pregnant and in some way trapped him into a relationship that was originally a fling and he kinda had to step up to the plate as he had a new responsibility, i don't think this relationship is going to last as at the time he broke up with Hilary Duff and had one night stand with Nicole, which is just one of those rebound things that we all do. I know he will be there for his daughter and he will support her but I don't think he's in love with her at all he has love for her as she is his baby's mother but on a passion level I don't think so. I think it would be best if they do go there separate ways as the arguing isn't healthy for Harlow and them.
